Sad times at my house right now as my beloved dog is dying from Kidney failure. You can read about it on my other blog - trainingtotri.blogspot.com.
But I have some baby updates. My mother and I went to babies R us this weekend and did my registry. That was fun, but horribly overwhelming. Those of you who already have babies, if you can comment any things you can't live without, I'd really appreciate it. There are so many unnesseary items out there. And I know a lot of it is just preference. I have some friends that love their boppy, some that hate it. Some that think bottle warmers are a waste of money, some who use theirs everyday. I didn't register for any bedding, etc. I'll wait until we know the sex. Which is only 20 days away! Woopee.
I think I am starting to feel the baby kicking. It's like a wierd butterflyish feeling in the pit of my stomach. So that is new and exciting. I can't wait until you can feel the kicks on the outside. I think it'll help make all of this more real for Gary.

I'm sorry about your dog. That is really hard and sad.
Registering was totally overwhelming. I was trying to get as little as possible. It is so fun when you can start to feel the flutters!
I'm using my boppy to feed Moana right now... Get some disposable changing table pads. Lots of diapers and wipes. Swaddle sleep sacks are nice too. Lanisoh ointment for your cracked and sore nipples (essential for 1st week). Vibrating bouncer chair. I like the graco snugride car seat bc it also fits in the BOB running stroller. And then you can just get another base for your husbands car. Those are my favorite 1st week things. :)
I am so sorry to hear about your dog. Sad. No recommendations yet...:)
still sorry about Taiko, but maybe his day at the vet can buy him a little time?
baby product-wise, I'd consider myself a minimalist in most respects, but there were a few items that we didn't register for, yet unexpectedly used a lot:
1. Summer video monitor -- we have a tiny house and Lola slept in our room for the first year, but it has still been the #1 most used and appreciated baby item we have.
2. For swaddling, my absolute favorite shower gift was a big stack of blankets that my MIL made by just hemming the edges of 1 sq. yard of flannel from the fabric store -- the bigger-than-normal size made them soooo useful.
3. gDiapers -- I got them just because they were so cute, but they turned out to be super practical too.
Oh, and both S and I used the Boppy for pretty much every feeding -- breast or bottle.
i could only find about 15 things i wanted to register for. i'm sure i'm in for a rude awakening about how much babies really need! sorry about your dog...that is so hard.
How neat. I can't imagine (and never will know) what it's like to have something inside you kicking around. Weird.
I'm sorry to hear about Taiko. I'm sending my best wishes to you in Ohio!
