Its finally happened

i have a double chin! Oh no :) I knew it would happen eventually. I couldn't get away with a pregnancy that didn't affect my face. I did make it almost 38 weeks though!

Tomorrow is my follow up u/s. I am not too concerned. My non stress test was perfect. I saw my regular doc on Monday and he basically said he didn't bring it up b/c measuring 2 weeks behind is so common. He also pushed around on my belly and said if he was a betting man he'd say she was already over 6 lbs. The only reason they would induce me is if she has gotten below 15% or the amniotic fluid looks to be running low. So, hopefully neither of those will be the case. Although I am sooooo ready to be done.

Ladies - how about some advice on what I need and don't need in my hospital bag. So far I have flip flops, slippers, 1 pair of lounge pants, 2 tshirts, a massage thingermerbob and 2 magazines in my bag. I plan to also put in there my robe, ipod and toiletries (including scope and chapstick), a few snacky items, need to get a nursing bra too. Anything else? I have in my head that we'll take the laptop, but is that just stupid? Am I stupid to thing as I sit there for hours waiting to have the baby I might actually send an email or dictate one to Gary?

I packed a lot for the hospital but used very little. I just wore the hospital johnnie the whole time. You bleed a lot and it is messy. No point ruining your nice PJs at the hospital. You may want a robe, our hospital provided them. I also packed toiletries and chapstick and a very comfy outfit to wear home. We did bring the laptop and my hub used it to send pics and info to everyone. I also packed a going home outfit for Jack. He wore hospital issue stuff the whole time we were there and they provided diapers, wipes, pacifier, and all the other stuff he needed while we were there. The hospital also provided me with grippy slipper socks. Again, you will be very "leaky" so best to not wear your best slippers while you are there. As part of the going home outfit I packed a nursing bra and nursing pads. The hospital provided maxi pads and gave me a bunch to bring home. They also gave me some really awesome pads with a built in ice pack which rocked. I highly recomend using them and asking for extras. Hopefully you won't be as sore as I was/am. I ended up with a third degree lateral tear so I am still not getting around very well. I think that's it. I brought my ipod and a book but never used them. Active labor was too painful and after the epidural I tried to sleep. After delivery if I wasn't nursing the baby I was trying to sleep. Good luck!

I wish I'd had a plastic bag handy for S to put my clothes in as soon as I arrived and changed into the hospital gown -- with the amniotic fluid leaking on the way there, that stuff was gross.

I couldn't wait to get out of the hospital garb and wear my own bras and lounge pants (I just made sure they were black pants).

Take a notepad to write down random instructions they give you. It was always the stuff they casually mentioned that we got home and wished we had noted.

bring the laptop!!!!! i would've been so bored afterwards, they take the baby for an hour or so to do tests and i used that time to tell the world she was here!!!! i used half of what i brought. it was super hot in the hospital (i thought), and i wished i had shorts (in december). i wore black lounge pants, tshirt, and a zip jacket for easy access to boobs! never touched my book, ipod, etc...

I actually checked my blackberry and the computer a ton when I was in labor but I was in labor FOREVER. Having a cover up to nurse when people came to visit was also helpful. Also, take a nightgown in case you have to have a c-section because you won't want something with a waistband.

I brought my laptop and used it while he was sleeping and when we had down time. Dark pants, camera, definitely snacks/power bars n be sure to eat/drink before going!! bring shirts that are still a bit roomy, your belly will be like jelly, it is so weird!!! & gum/mints
